Sometimes life and relationships can be too hard to deal with alone. We can get stuck in discouraging patterns and start to feel hopeless, isolated, defeated. Seeking therapy can be scary and, understandably, some people might be skeptical, or uncomfortable talking about feelings. But having someone in your corner to support you as you sort things out, cheer you on through the difficult parts, and assist you in getting "unstuck" can be truly transformative. I work with couples and individuals from a collaborative stance, meeting you where you are to create a safe, nurturing space where we can move together toward your unique vision of hope and healing.
My many life experiences have drawn me to the field of therapy including: the ups and downs of being in a committed relationship for over 30 years, raising two children to young adulthood, and previous positions in vocational rehabilitation, counseling, and wellness coaching. I have been fortunate to have worked with, and cared deeply for, people from all walks of life and I am welcoming to clients of all backgrounds, orientations, gender expressions, and relationship styles.
I hold a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Saint Mary's University of Minnesota. In addition to my graduate studies, I have completed training in the following:
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)- an experiential type of therapy based on attachment theory that is proven to reduce distress in couples.
Prepare/Enrich- useful for premarital counseling or strengthening existing relationships.
